After a couple of days in Port Elizabeth this week, Megs and I have spent a good part of the last few days weighing the pros and cons of what I saw. Our plan is to rent for at least the first year. On the way to the airport we agreed that the priority should be a family home over an “administration center”. This might have seemed obvious but with One Life Church so at the center of our relocating its really hard to not weigh everything in the light of “church plant suitability”. I’m afraid to say that in spite of our sensible agreement, I failed a bit. As a result, we have at least one house which is on the list that probably shouldn’t be there.
Here’s what we have considered important.
1. Location – Close to school and the center of one “hub” area in PE
2. Family “feel” – A comfort zone we can all love to be in.
3. Cost – This has to be a factor.
4. Living spaces – We would like a large lounge as well as a “TV” lounge
5. Hospitality potential – A garden, pool and braai area would be awesome.
6. Guest room potential – To always have room for friends.
7. Office space – I would like to have a dedicated zone.
On the strength of our rating system the Main Road house has it but sadly it’s only available from 1 FEB! The Ambassadors House really is just too expensive and the Richmond Hill house is hanging in there more for its commercial/church base potential. We could live there but only for a while at the start up. Eventually we will need to move and we can’t be certain that at that time One Life will be ready to pick up the rent
So what will we choose??? We are going to have to think and pray just a little longer. But not much longer…we plan to move in three weeks!!
More alive than ever.
